Our client was looking to hire a Deputy Head of Investor Relations with the analytical depth and market credibility to engage effectively with investors and the wider financial community. The challenge was to identify candidates capable of stepping out of the sell side and into a strategic in-house role, while combining strong equity story understanding, stakeholder management skills, and the confidence to operate in a large listed international business. - **Approach:** We focused the search on high-calibre sell-side equity research analysts with strong exposure to listed companies, capital markets, and investor-facing environments. Beyond technical valuation and financial communication skills, we assessed each candidate on their ability to transition from external analysis to internal representation: understanding management priorities, shaping messaging, and building credibility with investors, analysts, and senior leadership. Particular attention was paid to communication style, strategic judgement, and the capacity to move from pure analysis into a broader corporate role.

We delivered a shortlist of candidates from the sell side who brought both technical credibility and strong communication skills. These profiles gave the client access to talent with a deep understanding of how the market evaluates listed businesses, while also demonstrating the maturity and adaptability required to succeed in a senior in-house investor relations function.
